
CAMROSE POLICE REPORT
March 16, 2023
The Camrose Police Service has made an arrest and laid charges in relation into a shooting incident that occurred shortly after 10:00 PM on March 11th, 2023.
A male reported that while driving in the 4800 block on 50th Avenue, his vehicle was shot at numerous times. The male driver suffered minor, non life-threatening injuries as a result of this incident.
Four persons of interest from the area of the shooting were initially questioned by police in relation to this incident and ultimately determined not to have been involved.
An investigation further revealed that sometime between the evening of March 9th and the morning of March 10th, an unoccupied, parked vehicle had also been shot two blocks away from the aforementioned incident, and a male suspect was identified as the person responsible for both shooting occurrences.
On the evening of March 14th, with assistance from the Wetaskiwin and Central Alberta District RCMP Crime Reduction Units, and the RCMP Emergency Response Team, a 51 year old Camrose man was arrested and taken into custody without incident.
A search warrant on the male’s residence resulted in the seizure of several firearms, ammunition, and other evidence related to the shooting offences.
Police believe the male to be the only person responsible for these offences, and are not searching for further suspects.
Jason Brian Barkman has been charged with Attempted Murder, Assault with a Weapon, and numerous weapons offences.
Barkman’s bail hearing was adjourned and he remains in custody. His first appearance is set for Camrose Provincial Court on March 22nd.
The Camrose & District Victim Services Unit are actively supporting those who have been impacted by these incidents.

Police received a call from homeowners stating a truck had crashed into their house and the subjects were attempting to drive away. Police attended the scene where they located the 19-year-old male driver who was impaired by alcohol. Police determined the male was driving at a high speed when he lost control of the truck causing extensive property damage to 3 residences, including a heavy-duty fence, a Telus cable box, city signage, trees, light standards and the side of the garage and house. The male was issued impaired driving related sanctions, his vehicle seized, and charged with careless driving.
March 14, 2023
A cryptocurrency fraud was reported involving the grandson jail scam. The 76-year-old victim was contacted by an unknown person and advised their grandson was in jail and a large amount of money was needed for bail in the form of Bitcoin. *** Do not act on any requests from individuals that are asking to collect for things such as bail or taxes, especially if they are requesting unusual forms of currency. Police will never contact a person and request money for bail to be paid for any prisoner. If you are uncertain, contact the Police or another trusted source.
A 49-year-old male was issued a licence suspension and his vehicle seized after he was found to be operating a vehicle while impaired by drug.
A 44-year-old female was located and arrested on warrant. During the arrest of the 44-year-old she was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and cocaine, she was held in custody for a bail hearing.
March 13, 2023
A 1998 Dodge Ram truck was stolen from the 37 ave and 66 st area sometime overnight. Several other reports of attempted vehicle thefts were received from the same area.
A business in the industrial area reported 4 catalytic converters were stolen from vehicles in their compound.
A hit and run collision occurred at the Co-op grocery store where a parked taxi was struck by another vehicle described as a dark blue Dodge Dakota truck with a canopy. Police are asking for any witnesses to come forward with information.
Police attended a residence regarding a disturbance and determined an intoxicated male had assaulted a female during an argument. The male was arrested and held in Police cells until sober. He is facing one count of assault and to appear in Camrose court.

Police are seeking witnesses and information in relation to a shooting that occurred shortly after 10:00 PM on March 11th in the downtown Camrose area. A male reported that while driving in the 4800 block on 50th Avenue, his vehicle was shot at numerous times. The male driver suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries as a result of this incident.
Police questioned four persons of interest from the area near the shooting, however no charges have been laid at this time. Police are continuing to investigate and gather information in relation to this matter. Further information will be released as the investigation continues.

Police assisted in executing a PChAD(Protection of Children Abusing Drugs) order by apprehending a youth and transporting them to a safehouse for treatment.
A male was apprehended pursuant to the Mental Health Act after failing to comply with a community treatment order. The male was transported to a designated mental health facility within the province.
March 7, 2023
A fraud was reported regarding a purchase of an item over social media. A false post advertising the sale of an item led the buyer to e-transferring money prior to a meeting arrangement. It was then determined the seller used a random address and there was no actual item for sale.
Police observed a vehicle being operated in a suspicious manner. A traffic stop determined the male driver was under the influence of drugs and sanctions were implemented. During the investigation Police found the male was in possession of Methamphetamine; he was arrested and later released with various charges related to narcotics and traffic offences.
March 6, 2023
Police mediated a disturbance between a female, male, and other family. During the investigation police found the male had warrant. He was arrested and later released.
An abandoned vehicle report led to discovery that the vehicle had been stolen from a residence in Camrose without the owner’s knowledge. Polie are investigating.
Police received a report of a catalytic converter theft from a mid-2000’s Honda SUV. The theft occurred overnight while the vehicle was parked behind a residence.
March 5, 2023
Police stopped a suspicious vehicle believed to be associated to criminal activity which resulted in the arrest of the occupants. The male driver, age 29, was determined to have warrants for Aggravated Assault and Home Invasion and found to be in possession of weapons, break-in tools, disguises, and a quantity of illicit drugs. Further investigation determined the vehicle and licence plate were stolen, and the vehicle identification number had been tampered with. The driver was held in custody for a bail hearing on his warrants and several new criminal charges.
Two separate reports of damaged door handles on vehicles in the Augustana Campus parking lots were received. Both incidents are believed to be related to the suspicious person complaint which was recently reported.
Police responded to a dispute between a male and female. The situation was mediated, however it was discovered that the male had a warrant for unpaid traffic fines. He was arrested and held to pay the fine or serve default time.
Staff at the Bill Fowler Centre advised of a male that was refusing to leave the building. Police determined the 42-year-old male was contravening a trespass notice and he was subsequently issued a violation under the Petty Trespass Act.

Police were advised of further mailbox mischiefs in the area of 75 street and 44 avenue, and 69 st and 45 ave. Please contact Police if you have any information.
Police responded to the Augustana area regarding male that was attempting to gain entry to the buildings and vehicles around campus. Police located the male responsible and he has been charged with provincial offences related to trespassing and tampering with motor vehicles.
A traffic stop was conducted with a male known to have numerous outstanding warrants for fraud, theft and other property related offences. Upon arrest Police noted the 44 year-old had break-in tools and several stolen items in his possession. The man was held for a bail hearing and is facing more than 12 new criminal and provincial charges.
March 3, 2023
Police received a report of a female that appeared to be intoxicated in public. Police located the female and found she was sober, however had outstanding warrants for Mischief. The female was arrested and later released to appear in court.
Police are investigating a fraud of over $3000. It appears the account was compromised from an online transaction.
A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a pick-up truck.
Police are investigating a fraud involving a vehicle which had a falsified Vehicle Identification Number. The vehicle was determined to be stolen from the Calgary area and resold using an altered VIN.
Police responded to a residential disturbance where weapons were believed to be involved. Police found one male with minor injuries; however, all parties became extremely uncooperative and would not provide details on the incident. During their investigation Police found one of the occupants to have traffic warrants for unpaid fines. The 38-year-old male was arrested and held in custody to serve time or pay his fines.

A Chevrolet truck was reported stolen from a residence in the 50 ave and 58 street area. The truck was locked and keys were in possession of the owner. The vehicle was later recovered in Vegreville, AB
A vehicle that was stolen from Camrose on February 15th was recovered in Leduc, AB. One male was arrested in relation to the theft.
March 1, 2023
Police investigation confirmed the intoxicated female from yesterday had numerus bottles of fragrance merchandise in her possession which were valued beyond $1600. The female was charged with theft offenses and later released to appear in court.
Police conducted a welfare check on an elderly male after Homecare staff advised they had not been able to contact him. Police found the male in medical distress and EMS assisted in getting him to care.
2 separate traffic stops resulted in both female drivers being arrested on warrants.
A 38-year-old male was arrested during a traffic stop after refusing to comply with a mandatory alcohol screening. His vehicle was seized and he is now facing sanctions under impaired driving law.
During late night patrols Police attempted a traffic stop with 2 Ford F350 trucks. Both vehicles failed to stop and fled from the city at high rates of speed. Police are investigating.

An automotive repair business reported a break and enter to their compound with some parts being stolen off one of the vehicles within.
Hotel staff advised of an intoxicated female that was causing a disturbance and refusing to leave. The female continued her behaviour during Police intervention which resulted in her arrest and detention until sober.

A Camrose business reported being the victim of a substantial fraud through a Phishing attack, which is a socially engineered tactic used by criminals to gain trust and access to computers and private information via text, email, or internet. A reminder from Police not to accept suspicious emails or messages containing links – clicking on these may open the gateway to criminals accessing your information.
A male known to have warrants related to traffic offences and failing to appear in court was arrested. He was later released after a bail hearing.
A male and female, both known to have warrants for fraud and possession of stolen property, were observed entering a business. Police arrested both and they were kept in custody for bail hearings.
February 26, 2023
A 57-year-old male was observed to be grossly intoxicated in public and unable to care for himself. The male could not provide any contacts to assist with his care and was subsequently lodged in Police cells to sober.
Police continue to investigate further mailbox thefts that were noted in the areas of 47 avenue and 36 street, and Grandview Cresent area.
A west end business reported a male had concealed electronics on his person before leaving the store. Police arrested a 32-year-old male in relation to the theft, he is scheduled to appear in court.
A 23-year-old male is facing multiple fraud related charges after Police identified him as responsible for 4 separate frauds involving credit cards.
February 25, 2023
Police located a 21-year-old male who was wanted for failing to appear in court as a witness. The male was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.
Police are investigating several reports of mischief and theft of mail related to community postal boxes in the 44 avenue and 41 street area, and multiple apartment buildings. Police are seeking any information from the public which may assist investigation of these incidents.
February 24, 2023
A social assistance business reported a male causing a disturbance in their building. Police attended and found noting criminal had occurred and the male had left after a brief confrontation with staff.
A traffic stop revealed the 25-year-old male driver was under the influence of alcohol. The male was issued a licence suspension, vehicle seizure, and is now facing a fine under provincial impair driving law.
February 23, 2023
Police observed a vehicle travelling though the city at a high rate of speed, and upon initiating a traffic stop noted the vehicle to take evasive actions. Police located the male driver who was fleeing the vehicle on foot and determined he was under the influence of alcohol. An alcohol screening was conducted resulting in immediate impaired driving sanctions and seizure of the vehicle.

Police attended a domestic dispute between a male and female. The situation was mediated and neither wished further police involvement.
February 21, 2023
An SUV was reported stolen from a residential detached garage. Police determined keys were left in the vehicle and entry was gained through an insecure garage window.
Police conducted a welfare check on an individual that was reported to be suicidal. Police found they were in mental health crisis with risk of self-harm. Assistance was provided in connecting them with immediate intervention resources.
Police are investigating a fraud where access was gained to an online account and items were purchased using the stored payment information.
February 20, 2023
Police recovered a vehicle that was reported stolen from Camrose last week. Two females, 24 and 39, have been charged for possession of the stolen vehicle among other criminal offences.
Police responded to a 911 call for a residential disturbance between multiple people. Upon arrival Police found an intoxicated male in the residence who was causing the disturbance and breaching multiple release conditions. The male was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.
February 19, 2023
Police received a report of a female panhandling in the downtown area. The 27-year-old was located and warned; however, another complaint was later received and the female was charged under the panhandling bylaw.
Police responded to a male causing a disturbance at a downtown business. The male was located and arrested for public intoxication.
A 60-year-old female was arrested after fleeing from Police at a traffic stop. A short time after the female fled, her vehicle was observed to be immobilized in a snowbank where she was apprehended. She is facing numerous charges including failing to stop for a peace officer and careless driving.
February 18, 2023
A traffic complaint was received regarding a vehicle parked in the middle of an intersection. Police found the vehicle was gone on arrival, however later located the driver who was in mental health crisis. The driver was apprehended pursuant to the Mental Health Act and assistance was provided.
Police are investigating multiple reports of licence plate thefts in the Mount Pleasant area.
A male was arrested after he was observed tampering with a vehicle. He was later released to appear in court.
February 17, 2023
Police received several requests for welfare checks. All were successfully completed with no concerns noted.
A 39-year-old female was located and arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court. She was later released from custody.
Police responded to 7 residential disputes regarding unwanted guests, property, and disturbances.
A driving complaint resulted in Police locating a stationary vehicle in a drive-through. The male driver, 27, was found asleep in the vehicle and observed to be under the influence of alcohol. A breath screening resulted in an immediate 3-day licence suspension and vehicle seizure.
February 16, 2023
Police are investigating a credit card fraud after the card owner was notified of an online purchase made at a local business. Police continue to investigate with a potential suspect identified.
During a traffic stop Police identified a male passenger who was breaching release conditions. The male was arrested and later released from custody.
February 15, 2023
A youth was apprehended in accordance with a PChAD(Protection of Children Abusing Drugs) order and conveyed to a safe house.
A vehicle was reported stolen from a locked detached garage. It was determined an electronic key fob was left in the vehicle.
A female was reported to be trespassing at an apartment building where she had prior notice no to attend. Charges are pending.
Police also conducted several welfare checks and mediated minor disputes throughout the day.
February 14, 2023
Security staff advised of a female that was causing a disturbance in the hospital. Police attended and mediated a miscommunication and the female continued to receive treatment.
Police initiated an investigation into family violence after a report of historical abuse was received.
A theft report from a grocery store resulted in a 62-year-old male being arrested. Further investigation revealed the male was responsible for thefts from multiple west end businesses which totaled more than $600.00 in merchandise. The male is facing multiple charged for theft and possession of stolen property.
February 13, 2023
Police responded to a downtown residence regarding a male described as being violent and causing a disturbance. Upon arrival Police located an intoxicated male in crisis and with the assistance of EMS were able to apprehend him and convey him to hospital for care.
A truck was reported stolen sometime overnight from a residence in the Mount Pleasant area. Police are investigating.
Police assisted Home Care in locating a client that was vulnerable and requiring assisted care. The client was united with care givers.
Police spent substantial time mediating a dispute and keeping peace between a couple regarding property at a residence.
Several calls for service regarding intoxication and mental health were dealt with throughout the night.

Police arrested a 60-year-old male during a traffic stop after he refused to provide a breath sample upon demand. He was later released to appear in court.

Damage to a 2003 GMC truck was reported after the owner found the door lock punched and the vehicle was rummaged through.
An 81-year-old female was a suspect in an attempted theft from grocery store. Police located the female and found unpaid merchandise in her possession. The items were returned and she was issued a trespass notice.

A 20-year-old male was arrested after uttering threats to a neighbour. He was released from custody to appear in Camrose Provincial Court.
A traffic stop found the male driver, 39, under the influence of alcohol which resulted in immediate roadside sanctions. The male’s licence was suspended and his vehicle seized.
Police conducted a traffic stop with a Ford F350 truck which then fled from the Officer as they approached the vehicle on foot. The vehicle left the city at a high rate of speed. Police continue to investigate.
February 8, 2023
A 38-year-old female known to have numerous warrants across Alberta was observed as a vehicle passenger. Police conducted a traffic stop and the female was arrested and held in custody for a bail hearing.
Police observed another female, 53, who was wanted on drug trafficking charges. She was arrested and later released to appear in court.
A welfare check was requested for a male that was sending suicidal messages. Police found the male did not reside in Camrose and notified the proper agency of jurisdiction. The male was located and not at risk for self-harm.
Police responded to a domestic dispute in a hotel room where they located a 37-year-old female who was found breaching her release conditions. The female was arrested and transported to cells where she assaulted a Police Officer while being lodged. The female was also found to have in her possession illicit drugs and financial cards not belonging to her. She was held in custody awaiting a bail hearing for numerous charges including breach of release, assaulting a Peace Officer, possession of drugs, and possession of stolen property.

Police are investigating a mischief after a resident reported having a tire damaged on their vehicle while it was parked at their residence.
A male attended the Police Service and was observed to be in mental health crisis. The male eventually agreed to seek assistance and Police transported the male to hospital.
A Kia minivan was reported stolen from a residence. Police continue to investigate with potential leads.
Police arrested 2 males on separate outstanding warrants. The males were later released to deal with their matters in court.
February 6, 2023
Police were called to the area of Duggan Mall after receiving reports of a dispute between a male and female. Police located both parties in a verbal argument and they agreed to separate for the day.
An intoxicated female was reported to be trespassing at a residence contrary to a previous notice. The 31-year-old female was arrested and later released with one charge under the Petty Trespass Act.
Police checks on an unoccupied suspicious vehicle located behind an apartment building determined it was recently stolen from Wetaskiwin. The owner was contacted and recovered the vehicle.
February 5, 2023
A mid 2000’s Ford F350 was reported stolen during the previous night. Investigation determined the truck was west of Wetaskiwin and Police arrested a 25-year-old male in relation to the theft.
Staff at the hospital advised of a mental health patient that was becoming aggressive while preparing for transport to a mental health facility. Police attended and assisted without incident.
February 4, 2023
Police assisted EMS at a hotel with a suicidal female. I appeared that she had not taken her prescribed medications and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police were called to a store regarding a female displaying irrational behaviour and causing a disturbance with customers and staff. The 36-year-old female was found to be under the influence of drugs and was aggressive and uncooperative with Police which resulted in her arrest. It was also determined the female had outstanding warrants. She was held in custody until sober and released to appear in court.
A 911 call brought Police to a residence for a dispute between 2 intoxicated family members. Police separated the females and found one of them to have warrants for unpaid fines. The 49-year-old female was arrested and lodged to sober up and pay her fines.
Police charged a 35-year-old female for uttering threats after she had approached a stranger and began throwing objects toward them and yelling threats of physical harm to them.
A male was reported to be causing damage and throwing objects in a residence, and then assaulting another resident before fleeing the home. Police located the male and determined he was intoxicated by drugs. He was held in custody to sober.
February 3, 2023
Police were called to a residence where an unknown female had been loitering at the front door. Police determined the female was suffering from mental illness and connected her with means of care.
A welfare check was requested for a mature youth who had indicated intent of self -harm. The youth was located and Police assisted them in obtaining help through mental health services.
During a traffic stop Police determined the driver was under the influence of alcohol. A 37-year-old female received a roadside sanction and her vehicle was seized.
February 2, 2023
Police responded to separate complaints of suspicious females near the downtown area. Police located both and confirmed the reports, however determined nothing criminal had occurred. Both females were spoken to regarding their behaviours.
Police investigated multiple incidents of minor theft where the complainants and suspects were known to each other. Situations were mediated.
February 1, 2023
A welfare check was requested after a 40-year-old female failed to return to her residence the previous night and could not be contacted. Police located the female and she returned home.
Staff at a licenced establishment advised of an intoxicated male that was causing a disturbance and refusing to leave. Police attended and removed a 42-year-old male without incident.
Police responded to a 911 call regarding a 31-year-old male that was irrational and threatening violence. The male was located at a hotel room where he was threatening physical harm to the public and Police. After substantial efforts to de-escalate, Police entered the room and the male was taken into custody. He is facing charges for uttering threats, assaulting a Peace Officer, and mischief to property.
January 31, 2023
Police recovered a vehicle that was stolen last week. The investigation is continuing.
A 52 year-old woman was reported as an unwelcomed guest and refusing to leave a residence. Police mediated and the female left without further incident.
Police responded to a 911 call at a residence regarding a disturbance and upon arrival Police found 2 males in a physical altercation within the home. Police separated the males and determined the 28-year-old aggressor was breaching release conditions by attending the residence and consuming alcohol. He was arrested and lodged in Police cells to await a bail hearing, and facing criminal charges for assault, uttering threats, and failing to comply with release conditions.
January 30, 2023
Police are investigating a fraud and theft of a credit card after several unauthorized transactions were noted by the owner.
A 43-year-old female was arrested on warrants for failing to appear in court for traffic related offences. She was held for a bail hearing and later released.
An east end business reported an intoxicated female was in their store. Police located a 35-year-old female and determined she was not intoxicated but was displaying disruptive behaviour in the store. The female was escorted from the premise and served a trespass notice not to return.
Police responded to 2 separate reports of sudden death. The office of the Medical Examiner is investigating both as per requirements of legislation.
January 29, 2023
An elderly male attended the Police Service seeking assistance in a disoriented state. Police were eventually successful in identifying the male and contacted family to assist.
A vehicle was stolen from the 5400 block of 52 street after being started with a fob which was still in possession of the owner. Police have identified potential suspects.
**** Another reminder from Police that stolen vehicle incidents are on the rise with FIVE preventable thefts occurring in the past week alone. Many vehicles equipped with a push button start feature can still be stolen even without the key fob in or near the vehicle, and many of those will not shut down when the key fob is out of range. Using an ignition override or remote starting device is the safest method to warm your vehicle in cold weather. Do NOT leave your vehicle idling while unattended!!*****
January 28, 2023
Police assisted in removing an unwanted guest that was refusing to leave a resident. The male left without incident.
Police received a 911 call from a male alleging he was being threatened by another male. Police located the caller determining he was intoxicated and in no immediate danger.
Hospital staff advised a patient had left their contrary to a mental health order. Police located the patient and returned them to care.
A female reported a male was causing a disturbance in her residence. Police attended and determined the male was in breach of release conditions by contacting the female. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
January 27, 2023
Police responded to an alarm at a convenience store where they found a female causing a disturbance inside. Police arrested the female after learning she had multiple warrants. She was held in custody for a bail hearing and later released by a Justice of the Peace.
Police attended a residence after a fight was reported and determined two female relatives were having a dispute. The situation was mediated and parties separated for the night.

A red Yardworks snowblower was reported stolen from a church shed in the area of 42st and 49 ave.
A loss prevention officer reported 2 youth that appeared to be shoplifting. The youth were located in the store and had small amount of items concealed. Parents were notified and the pair were banned from the store for 3 years.
January 25, 2023
Police observed a male known to have warrants walking in the area of an east side hotel. The male was arrested and found to be in possession of a weapon, contrary to his previous release conditions. The male was charged with multiple breaches and later released to appear in court.
A male and female were arrested in separate incidents when found to have outstanding warrants. Both were later released from custody.
Police responded to a theft from a liquor store and located a 35-year-old female nearby who matched descriptions provided by staff. The female was arrested and found to have the stolen items in her possession. She was released on theft charges.
January 24, 2023
A string of suspicious person reports were received early morning in the Montcalm area. Police responded to the area to find the suspect had fled. Neighbourhood security cameras captured a male attempting to enter multiple garages in the area. One garage was insecure and a telescoping ladder was taken but later recovered as it had been discarded nearby. Police have identified potential suspects and are investigating.
An unlocked vehicle was entered and a wallet stolen while parked overnight at Our Lady of Mount Pleasant School. Police arrested a 28-year-old female who is facing charges for possession of stolen property, unauthorized use of a credit card, and possession of methamphetamine.
A 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen from the Duggan Mall parking lot with the keys left inside. Police are investigating potential leads.
Police recovered the Volkswagen Jetta which was reported stolen on January 23rd. The vehicle was returned to the owner.
January 23, 2023
A truck was reported stolen over night from a detached garage with the keys left in the garage. Access was gained using a garage door remote which was in another unlocked vehicle outside the garage. While searching for the truck, Police recovered a stolen utility trailer.
Another vehicle was reported stolen from a restaurant during the evening. A Volkswagen Jetta was left unlocked with the keys in the ignition.
Camrose Police Service has been experiencing an increase in reports of suspicious communication related to the Alberta Affordability Action Plan. Several reports to Police have indicated the potential for fraud is on the rise with criminals posing as administrators of this government program. These scammers have the sole intent of exploiting trusting individuals to steal personal information and money. They are particularly active during times of need knowing vulnerable people will likely be easy prey. Remember that Government Agencies, among many other professions and businesses, will not contact you via text or email to obtain or confirm your personal information. To avoid any loss of privacy, identity, and money, please educate yourself and others on the risks associated to communication through multi-media platforms – texts, emails, phone calls, internet, and social media.

A vehicle theft was reported from a residence. The unlocked vehicle was parked inside an unlocked garage with the keys left inside. A reminder from Police to ensure all valued property is locked and secure to avoid costly losses and inconvenience.
Police stopped a vehicle for traffic violations and, through mandatory alcohol screening, determined the 31-year-old male driver was impaired. His vehicle was seized and he is facing sanctions pursuant to provincial impaired driving law.
January 21, 2023
Police sought and arrested a male known to have warrants for failing to attend court. The male was later released from custody to appear in court.
Police responded to a disturbance at a downtown business. It was determined a female, who was not a customer or staff member was yelling and swearing at patrons as they entered the store, and that it was becoming a frequent occurrence. Police investigation continues and charges are pending.
Police conducted a traffic stop with an unregistered vehicle. Through mandatory alcohol screening it was determined that the 57-year-old male driver was impaired by alcohol. The vehicle was seized, and provincial impaired driving sanctions were imposed on the driver.
Police are investigating a theft involving a 53-year-old male taking a substantial amount of money from elderly family members.
A 42-year-old male was arrested for breaching his probation order. He was also served numerous trespass notices for several properties and businesses in Camrose due to complaints of inappropriate behaviours.
A licenced establishment reported their debit machine was stolen. Video surveillance and witnesses provided sufficient information for Police to locate the two Edmonton males, aged 43 and 44, that were responsible. The males were arrested and held in custody for numerous property crimes related to theft and identity. During the investigation police also executed a search warrant on a vehicle being used by the males which recovered the debit machine and other stolen items.
January 20, 2023
Multiple collisions investigated with two of them involving vehicles striking buildings. No injuries were reported.
A 33-year-old female and her daughter were found responsible for attempting to steal a small amount of cosmetic from a business. The pair were dealt with by way of Trespass Notices prohibiting their return to the store.
A female reported that she and son were new to the community, and she was concerned as her son had not returned home. He was later located by Police and returned home.
Police investigated a number of residential disturbances and mediated the disputes with no criminal elements found.
January 19, 2023
A health care facility requested assistance in removing an unruly male from their property who was causing a disturbance with staff. Upon arrival Police determined the male was a visitor and he agreed to leave.
A break-in to a residence was reported and Police found the property was vacant and in care of a property management company. The damage was determined to be caused from previous activity.
A historical sexual assault was reported. Police investigation is ongoing.
A female was found to be in mental health crisis and at risk of self harm. Police assisted in connecting the female to mental health resources for treatment.
January 18, 2023
A 911 call was received from a female advising a male who was known to her was inside her apartment building contrary to judicial release conditions. The male has been identified and Police are investigating potential charges.
Suspicious activity was reported within a vacant residence. Police determined the property was being unlawfully occupied by previous tenants. All individuals were removed including one female that was known to have outstanding warrants. The female was arrested and held for a bail hearing.
A report of an impaired driver led to Police locating a youth that was driving while intoxicated. The vehicle was seized, and the youth was later released subject to provincial impaired driving sanctions.
January 17, 2023
Police investigated an incident involving threats uttered to one male from another. It was determined that irrational comments were being passed between both males who were having a disagreement. Police mediated and both males advised to cease contact.
Police responded to multiple calls regarding mental health concerns and wellbeing checks. Police assisted in providing community resource options for those involved.
January 16, 2023
Police identified and arrested 2 suspects following an attempted robbery which was reported on January 11th. A female had been approached by the males who produced an imitation weapon and demanded money. The female refused and the 2 males fled from the area. The 26-year-old males were held in custody for bail hearings and are facing charges for attempted robbery, being disguised with intent to commit an offense, and several weapons offenses.
A 26-year-old male was arrested and charged with theft after attempting to exit a business with over $300 in unpaid merchandise. The male was also found to have outstanding warrants and was held for a release hearing.
Police observed a vehicle stop and the driver and passenger quickly switch positions before continuing. A traffic stop revealed the original driver had a suspended licence. The vehicle was towed, and the 34-year-old male driver is schedule to appear in court.
January 15, 2023
A female was reported to be stealing Amazon packages from doorsteps in a residential area. Police located the female and determined she was carrying empty Amazon boxes and no thefts had occurred. The female was requested to leave the area as she did not reside there and her activity appeared suspicious.
A business reported a break and enter with a small amount of cash taken. Police have identified a suspect and are investigating.
January 14, 2023
An occupancy dispute was reported between a male and female who were separating. Police attended and mediated a peaceful resolution.
A male reported he was receiving harassing communications from a female he had recently met. Police intervention resulted in the female ceasing contact.
Police responded to a distress call with a male attempting to harm himself. The male was cooperative in seeking medical and mental health assistance. While investigating the distress call, Police also noted an intoxicated male on scene who was becoming agitated. The male was determined to have outstanding warrants and on release conditions not to consume alcohol or have contact with the distressed male. He was arrested and held to sober for a bail hearing.
January 13, 2023
Police received a complaint regarding a delivery truck that was being operated in an unsafe manner. The business was contacted and the driver warned.
A theft from a vehicle was reported where taillights were stolen from a truck.
Police were advised of another theft involving a break and enter. After investigation, Police determined the complainant was suffering from mental illness and the report was unfounded.
Police sought and arrested an 18-year-old male who was known to have warrants. He was held for a bail hearing and later released by a Justice of the Peace.
January 12, 2023
Police assisted a family in executing an order under the Protection of Children Abusing Drugs(PCHAD) Act. A youth was apprehended and conveyed to a safehouse for treatment.
Police received notice of an individual that did failed to comply with an order to register with the Sex Offender Registry Centre of Alberta (SORCA). The person was arrested and later released to appear in court.
Police responded to a residence after a youth reported a disturbance in the home. A male and female were found to be having a verbal dispute which was settled with Police mediation.
Another residential disturbance was reported where threats with a knife were alleged. Police determined that a knife was not involved in a dangerous manner and all parties were separated for the night.
January 11, 2023
Police received a mental health warrant for the apprehension of a male suffering with mental illness. The male was located and transported to Centennial Center for assessment and treatment.
A 911 call from Augustana Campus residences was received requesting assistance with a female resident believed to be in mental health crisis. Police located the resident and transported them to hospital where it became apparent they were also under the influence of drugs. Police lodged the female until sober and then assisted her in accessing mental health resources.
January 10, 2023
A male reported a fraud after receiving an email offering employment by an entity claiming to be World Vision. Upon accepting the employment, the male received a cheque for $1500 and complied with a request to forward $1000 in gift card codes back to the sender. The $1500 cheque was later found to be of non-sufficient funds leaving the victim with a $1000 loss.
Staff from a local business advised of a male attempting to purchase a large amount of gift cards and refusing to consider he was being scammed. Police attended and found the male was still communicating with the scammer. Police assisted the male and educated him on gift card frauds.
An employee reported a break and enter to their business where a small amount of cash, computers, and an iPhone were stolen. Police are investigating leads.
During routine patrols of the industrial area, Police observed an open overhead door at a business. The building was searched and no one found inside, however further investigation revealed a company truck had been stolen. Monitoring equipment found the truck was taken to the Edmonton area.
A white 2011 GMC2500 truck was reported stolen. The owner’s wallet and keys were left in the vehicle which was taken from an unlocked garage.
A male turned himself into Police on a warrant for failing to comply with a probation order. The male was held for a bail hearing.
January 9, 2023
Numerous thefts were reported to Police: Wal-Mart staff advised of a theft after an unknown person walked out of the store with electronics which set off the alarm, staff from a convenience store advised a male stole $30 in merchandise, a female reported her vehicle keys were stolen while she was at work.
Police observed a suspicious vehicle travelling through the industrial area late at night. A traffic stop determined the male driver, who was well known for property crimes, was not a Camrose resident and could not provide any legitimate reason or purpose for his presence. The male was surveilled and later observed in a residential area conducting further suspicious activity. Another traffic stop was conducted, and the male was escorted out of the city by Police.

Police attended a residence in response to a sudden death. A 78-year-old was found to have passed in their home and circumstances appeared to be non-suspicious.
January 7, 2023
A health care facility requested a welfare check on a patient that left their care. The patient was located at found not to be in distress.
Police responded to a disturbance at a hotel room. Several intoxicated individuals were identified as causing issues and refusing to cooperate with staff members. Police mediated and the group agreed to settle for the night.
Police observed a female known to have an outstanding warrant for unpaid fines. The female was arrested and later released after payment was made.
January 6, 2023
Police were advised of a suspicious package located in a public washroom. Police determined that the package had been stolen and it was returned to the rightful owner.
An attempted fraud was reported involving text messages from an imposter that was requesting Amazon gift cards for a charitable purpose. The scam was identified prior to any loss.
A business reported theft of money from a donation collection. Police are investigating several leads.
January 5, 2023
A 37-year-old male was arrested after attempting to intimidate a witness regarding court proceedings. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing and is facing criminal charges for assault, uttering threats, breach of release, and obstructing justice.
During routine patrols members located a male who was found to have an outstanding warrant from Edmonton. The male was later released to appear in court.
Police received a complaint regarding fuel theft. Two vehicles had fuel siphoned from the tanks while parked behind a residence.
January 4, 2023
Police executed a search warrant at a Camrose residence where a 35-year-old male and 35-year-old female were arrested for trafficking of illegal tobacco. Police seized 350 cartons of cigarettes valued at $20,000, a prohibited weapon, and a substantial amount of cash and other illegally produced cannabis related items. Specific criminal charges are yet to be determined.
Police responded to a 911 call for a vehicle fire on the driveway of a residence. Camrose Fire Department attended and extinguished the fire before any further property was damaged. No injuries were reported, and the matter is still under investigation.
A break and enter to a storage unit was reported where musical instruments, including a drum set, 2 guitars and an amplifier were stolen.
A welfare check request resulted in a 64-year-old female being found in medical distress due to overconsumption of medication. The female was transported to hospital by EMS for assessment.

An assault was reported to Police that occurred on New Year’s Eve. Police are still investigating.
Police assisted Fire with a medical call to a residence. A 24 year old female was assisted until EMS could attend.

A male (59) reported his vehicle had been stolen sometime overnight. Police are still investigating.
A female (46) called Police stating she thought her ex-boyfriend was going to assault her. Police attended and determined that the female was very intoxicated and the two had a verbal argument. The female was uncooperative with Police. Situation mediated.
January 1, 2023
A call was received from a witness stating they observed a female stealing items from a local shop. The female was located and agreed to return the stolen items.
A female called Police stating there was an unknown male at her residence who was refusing to leave. Police attended and transported the male to the hospital to have a concussion looked at.
A 9-11 call was received in regard to a youth that was sexually assaulted by a male (21.) The male was located, arrested and charged.
